Board & Committees

  • Mary Umans

    PRESIDENT

I am inspired by our members that are willing to extend themselves, get to make new friends and get to know and help our community.

Every spring we give out our earnings to help children and youth activities throughout our community. I am always moved what a wonderful group of dedicated, unselfish people are in our community.

  • Margaret Andler

    VICE PRESIDENT

After retiring then moving to Delavan, I was looking for a fun group with good activities, an opportunity to meet new people, and whose philosophy was to contribute to the community. I discovered all of that with WBWCL at the Williams Bay farmers market. I always love the chili cook off & meeting new people

My role is backing the president as needed & bringing local guest speakers to the meetings. We have a great line up of speaker every year!

  • Shari Knight

    TREASURER

I joined the WBWCL because I wanted to be part of an organization that supports their community.  I like that the focus is on children, their excitement and enthusiasm is so rewarding.

My favorite memory of WBWCL is the annual Christmas Baskets for struggling families. Each year members assemble a huge amount of food along with gift cards to ensure a happy Christmas for some of these families.  I have had the pleasure of working on this committee for the past few years.

As Treasurer I am responsible for all financial transactions, preparing the annual budget and presenting it to the membership, license renewals, as well as collecting and recording dues.

  • Patti Conlon Grosso

    RECORDING SECRETARY

My mother, Betty Conlon,  joined Civic League when she moved here in 1989; and I was enthusiastic about joining her when I moved here in 2002. My mother enjoyed many friendships, activities, and helping her community,  and I soon felt the same way.

One favorite memories is sharing Civic League with my mother, Betty Conlon, and trusting that she is thrilled that I'm still enjoying her beloved organization and many of her friends as well as many new friends.

As the Recording Secretary, I am primarily responsible for taking minutes at the general membership meetings and the Executive Board meetings and sending them to the President for approval;  and then the Corresponding Secretary sends out these reports to the respective members.

  • Barb Schneider

    CORRESPONDING SECRETARY

& Co-Chair of Chili Cook Off Committee A friend and former coworker encouraged me to join, Thank you Lois.  One of my favorite memories is attending my first Chili Cook Off as a member. It was extremely fun and exciting to participate as a server.

In my role, I email notices and newsletters to all members, informing them of upcoming meetings, fundraisers, and other fun news.

On the Chili Cook Off Committee, I work with our busy committee members getting organized with restaurants and planning the big day!

  • Laura Kelly

    MEMBER AT LARGE

I had recently moved to Williams Bay and was hoping to meet new people and get involved in the community.

Everyone was so welcoming at my first meeting, the speaker and refreshments were excellent too! Also, the Fun Committee outings have been great!

I send cards to support members facing difficult times and organize Christmas gift baskets for families in need in the community.

  • M. Joanne Kantner

    MEMBERSHIP CHAIR

I was drawn to the Civic League’s tradition of service and enrichment of Williams Bay.
I enjoy working alongside members on projects that directly benefit local youth.

As membership chair, my role is to ensure members feel connected and ready to contribute to community and youth-focused initiatives.

  • Rita Pilarski

    CHAIRWOMAN SOCIAL COMMITTEE

I joined Civic League after learning about the good they do for the area youth.

My favorite memory is the warm feeing I get after hearing from the groups we help.

As Chairwoman of the Social Committee I recruit the hostesses for our monthly meetings and plan the annual banquet and Christmas party.

  • Grace Thorson

    PUBLICITY

I was introduced to Civic League through my Grandma Shari Knight, I had recently moved to the Bay and I wanted to get involved and give back to the very community that welcomed me.

My role within the Publicity committee is to maintain the website, create posters, digital content, and promotional products for Civic League.

  • Sally Gerson

    FUN COMMITTEE

Just  doing my part to support and strengthen our community.

A delightful memory is the scavenger hunt we did years ago. I really enjoyed discovering the history of places in the county.

As a member of the “fun” committee, I focus on organizing entertainment events for our League, making sure we have a balance of work and play.

  • Betsy Arney

    DUCK DERBY

I moved into my neighborhood 35 years ago. Many of my neighbors were women in Civic League. I remember standing in my driveway as I watched them drive off for the June banquet. The following September I joined Civic League.  I have not missed a June Banquet since then!

The year we had The Driehaus House on our Tour of Homes is a fond memory.  The house manager invited Civic League members to tour the home the day before our house walk. She gave us the history of the house and refreshments afterwards.

I am in charge of ticket sales for our Ducky Derby.

  • Sheila Mason

CO CHAIR OF CHILI COOK OFF

I was invited by a neighbor when I moved to the community. A good opportunity to meet people.

Many memories since it's been about 32 years of being a member. Our years of house walks, dinner dances & new friendships.

I've been involved with Chili Cook Off since it's inception, from working as a server up to Chairman. We find the community really enjoys it & takes their voting quite seriously.
